Coordinates with Art Teacher to display student art in frames throughout the school. Artwork is changed several times a year. When a student’s art is displayed, complete and place a “congratulations” sheet in teacher’s box for students to inform parents that art has been displayed. Mrs. Wells has these. When a student’s artwork is removed from display, see that the artwork is returned to the student’s teacher. The art coordinator may also help schedule volunteers to assist the art teacher as needed. The art budget covers the cost of famous Seagrove potter Phil Morgan’s work with 4th grade.
Time Commitment: Approximately 2 days every quarter. Every quarter we changed out the art in the hallways, which took about 8-9 hours total.
Cougar Closet Coordinator
Market the opportunity for Cotswold parents to donate used uniforms to the Cougar Closet. Sell used uniforms at minimal cost to families at PTA meetings, open houses, and other PTA functions throughout the year. Work with School Psychologist to donate clothes to those students in need.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours a month, sometimes in the evening.
Front Office / ID Badge Coordinator
Schedule and train PTA volunteers to assist our Office staff as needed.
Time Commitment: 1-2 mornings a month to volunteer in the front office, 1 hour a month to create calendar. Coordinator and Office Staff determine the length of the shifts.
Grade Parent Coordinator
Serve as liaison between the PTA and individual class representatives. Assign each classroom a Grade Parent to facilitate things such as stuffing Cougar folders, planning quarterly parties, and assisting teachers as needed. Remind Grade Parents of upcoming events as appropriate.
Special Events (Pies & New Parent Dinner)
Lost & Found Coordinator
Manages all items turned into Lost and Found by attempting to return them to their owners, displaying them during PTA meetings and donating them to local charities when unable to locate the owner.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours a month
Media Center Coordinator
Serve as liaison between Media Specialist and PTA. Schedule volunteers as requested by Media Specialist.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours a week for 2-3 weeks
PTA Membership Coordinator
This chairperson is responsible for advertising and organizing PTA membership opportunities. It involves distributing flyers via Cougar Bites and Cougar Folders to the parent body, collecting dues, and compiling the membership roster as required by NCPTA and the Secretary of the Cotswold Elementary PTA. Also required, distributing membership cards and assisting with name tags, as needed.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hrs a day September a few hours a week in October, 1 hr a week in November.
School Beautification Coordinator
Responsible for appearance of school grounds – buying and planting annuals, buying and spreading pine needles, etc. Responsible for organizing clean up days as necessary.
Time Committment: 1.5 – 2 hours per week
Staff Appreciation Coordinator
Responsible for the purchase and deliver of all staff gifts from the PTA. Organizes staff appreciation week. Provides refreshments as requested for school events.
Time Commitment: Approximately 5 hours a month.
Staff Recognition Coordinator
Communicates with principal and other staff regarding potential local, state, regional awards Cotswold teachers and staff may be eligible to win. Researches other potential awards. Writes or works with staff to complete award applications. Awards may include Harris Teeter Teachers of Excellence, area radio station awards and Teacher/Staff of the Year awards. Solicits recommendations of teachers who go “above and beyond” from Cotswold parents.
Time Commitment: A few hours a week.
Collects and organizes contact information re: new PTA volunteers; inputs same information into database for distribution to and use by PTA committee chairs.
Time Committment: 1 to 2 hours per week during the first month of school.
