The Cotswold “Odyssey of the Mind” team is looking for a parent volunteer(s) to manage and coach our student after school club. This is a wonderful extracurricular activity that encourages children to use their Cotswold Character to understand and solve problems.
OM is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students. Inventiveness and resourcefulness are the two main characteristics used to solve mechanical issues to artistic interpretation of literary themes. Each team will choose one of five competitive problems to solve. This is all done without input from their coaches and parents. The students showcase their problem solving skills at a local level, and then can possibly advance to higher level competitions.
The Cotswold Team will meet on a regular basis, practicing and enhancing their problem solving skills. Meetings will be held after school. The volunteer(s) would coordinate, organize and manage the group of students but allow them to direct the creative process. Parents interested in volunteering can contact Ms. Moras, firstname.lastname@example.org, for more information. To learn more about OM, visit http://ncom.org.
