On Friday 4/17, 3rd-5th grade students attended an assembly on Walk for Wisdom, a service project to raise awareness about The Lost Boys of South Sudan and challenges young people face in South Sudan today. South Sudan is the world’s newest country, and in some areas just 2% of boys and 1% of girls finish elementary school. The Walk for Wisdom was started by students at Myers Park High School to raise awareness and support two primary schools in South Sudan. Cotswold students have continued to learn and reflect in class and on May 1st, during their recess times, 3rd (1:20-1:50) and 4th (2:15-2:45) grade students will walk silently to remember The Lost Boys’ journey and stand in solidarity with young people in South Sudan who walk to attend school or access clean water each day. 5th grade will walk with 4th grade from 2:15-2:45. Parents are invited to attend and walk with their children. Representatives from the sponsoring nonprofit agency, Mothering Across Continents, will be in attendance and have information about more ways to help for those interested.
