Bike racks at Cotswold were jam-packed Wednesday morning for the first-ever National Bike to School Day. Despite the iffy weather forecast and the relatively short notice, more than 70 students, siblings, parents and friends took to two wheels for their trip to school. Groups met up at the now familiar Walk to School start points and pedaled in from there.
More than 700 schools across the country participated in National Bike to School Day. The event was so successful at Cotswold racks were double and triple-parked, and some students locked bikes and scooters to the trees outside the Linda Lane entrance! Several parents even suggested adding regular Bike to School Days to the events calendar for 2012-13.
Thanks to all of you who participated, and to Principal Hash and Ms. Linton for the administrative backup. Also thanks to Dick Winters from the Mecklenburg County Health Department for all of the encouragement!
