Warrena ‘Stu’ Broadnax Hankinson, of Charlotte, NC, died on January 8, 2012 at home. She is the wife of Golphin Hankinson, Jr. and the mother Evan Bradley Simon Hankinson of Raleigh, NC. Mrs. Hankinson retired from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District where she was the Assistant Principal at Cotswold Elementary School.
Mrs. Hankinson was an active member of First Baptist Church-West of Charlotte and served in several capacities, including an usher, church van driver, and a member of the Board of Directors. Besides her unselfish work and dedication to her church, she was also a Hospice volunteer for over ten years in the Charlotte community and surrounding areas. She was a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
Funeral services for Stu Broadnax Hankinson will be held at 12 noon on Friday, January 13, 2012, at First Baptist Church-West, 1801 Oaklawn Avenue, Charlotte, NC. Pastor Ricky Woods will deliver the eulogy. At 11 o’clock on Saturday, January 14, a celebration of her life and service will be held at Ridge Hill Baptist Church, 144 Ridge Hill Drive, Ridge Spring, SC. The Reverend Eldwin Griffin will officiate.
Mrs. Hankinson is survived by her loving husband, son, mother, brother, sister, and a host of other family members. Countless students will miss her and are the beneficiaries of her intellect, dedication and caring. They are better boys and girls, young men and women because Mrs. Hankinson touched their lives in such a positive and profound way.
