Cotswold Community Partner Chipotle Mexican Grill welcomed Mr. Smith’s fifth-graders on Monday for a Green Field Trip.
The students walked from school to the Chipotle restaurant on Providence Road. There, they learned about healthy eating, and Chipotle employees shared the restaurant’s philosophy of using local foods and hormone-free meats. The students finished the visit with a complimentary lunch.
Mr. Smith’s fifth-graders described what they learned by writing thank-you notes. Here’s a sample:
“Thank you so much for the meal. It was great. I never knew organic stuff could be so good. I can’t believe what people do to poor cows (put them in cages). I ate hot steak and it was good. Then I tried a chicken taco. Thank you, I never knew all of that information. Sincerely, Sam”
“Thank you for the tacos. They were much tastier than grilled cheese. You helped us understand to eat more freshly raised animals. We learned that most farms have animals in cages that they don’t have room to move. So I think all farms should have animals running free. Sincerely, Hallie”
Throughout this school year, each child at Cotswold will participate in a Green Field Trip to Chipotle through the Community Partners Program.
